What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

A denture is attached to a small number of dental implants, often two to four. The denture clips or fastens onto them, giving it much more stability than a regular denture.

Benefits

  • A denture that stays in place when you eat, speak and laugh
  • Less need for adhesive
  • A more secure, confident feel
  • Helps support the denture so it sits comfortably

How It Differs from Other Options

Conventional dentures rest on the gums. Implant-supported dentures attach to implants. For fixed teeth that stay in, see All-on-4. At your consultation we explain which suits your bone, gums and budget.

Before Your Visit

  • Bring your current dentures, if you have them
  • List your health conditions and medications
  • Write down what bothers you most about your current teeth
  • Ask about the written plan, timeline and payment plans

After Your Treatment

  • Expect some soreness and swelling at first. Follow our instructions
  • Eat soft foods while you heal
  • Clean the denture and implant area daily as we show you
  • Attend follow-up visits so we can check healing and fit
  • Remove and clean your denture as directed

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need implants for every tooth?

No. A small number of implants can support a full denture.

Can I use my current denture?

Sometimes it can be adjusted. Otherwise we make a new one. We assess this at your consultation.

Is the procedure painful?

We use local anaesthesia, with sedation available. Soreness afterward is usually manageable.

Can I eat normally?

Many patients find eating easier, since the denture is more stable.

Do I still need adhesive?

Often much less or none. We explain what to expect.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your plan. You receive a written estimate. Payment plans are currently available. Ask our front desk.
