Dental Crowns

A crown is a cap that covers a damaged tooth. It is used for:

Dental Bridges

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by joining a false tooth to crowns on the neighbouring teeth. Another option is an implant-supported bridge. See dental implants.

Materials

We offer porcelain and zirconia options that blend with your natural teeth. We help you choose the best material for the tooth's location and your bite.

The Process

  • Your first visit: we prepare the tooth, take a scan or impression and place a temporary.
  • Your second visit: we check the fit and colour, then cement your crown or bridge.

Before Your Visit

  • Tell us about pain, sensitivity or past reactions to anaesthetic
  • Bring insurance or CDCP details
  • Plan to be numb for a few hours
  • Ask about sedation if you feel anxious

After Your Treatment

  • Avoid chewing until numbness wears off
  • With a temporary crown, avoid sticky foods and floss carefully
  • Some sensitivity to hot and cold is common at first
  • Brush and floss as usual, including under bridges as we show you
  • Call us if the crown feels high, loose or comes off. See emergency dentist

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do crowns last?

With good care, crowns can last many years.

Does getting a crown hurt?

We numb the area, so you should be comfortable.

Do I need a crown or a filling?

Small cavities need fillings. Larger damage often needs a crown. We help you decide.

Can a crown get a cavity?

The tooth underneath can, so brushing and flossing still matter.

Are crowns covered by insurance?

Many plans cover part of the cost. We bill directly. Ask our front desk.

Bridge or implant?

Both replace teeth. An implant does not rely on neighbouring teeth. We explain the pros and cons.
