iTero 3D Scanning
No messy impressions — a precise 3D digital model of your teeth in minutes.

The iTero Element scanner is an advanced intraoral camera that captures thousands of images per second to construct a highly accurate 3D digital model of your teeth and bite. It replaces the uncomfortable putty impressions traditionally used for aligners, crowns, bridges, and orthodontic records — and it's far more accurate.
01
How the Scan Works
The scanner is a small wand that is gently moved around your mouth. It takes continuous photographs that are instantly stitched together into a detailed 3D colour model, visible on a chairside screen in real time. The entire scan takes 2–5 minutes and is completely comfortable — no gagging, no waiting for material to set.
02
What We Use It For
The iTero scanner is used for Invisalign treatment planning (including the Outcome Simulator that shows you a preview of your results), crown and bridge impressions, monitoring tooth movement during orthodontic treatment, and general restorative planning. The digital model can be sent directly to dental labs for fabrication with exceptional precision.
03
Accuracy and Digital Workflow
Digital impressions captured by the iTero scanner are significantly more accurate than traditional putty impressions, which can distort as the material sets. This means better-fitting crowns, more predictable aligner results, and fewer remakes. The digital workflow also eliminates the need to store or ship physical models.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the scan comfortable?
Very. The scanner wand is smooth and thin. There's no material being placed in your mouth, so there's no gag reflex trigger and nothing to wait for.
Can I see my 3D model?
Yes — the model is displayed on a large screen in real time. You can see your teeth from any angle and we can use it to discuss your treatment plan right away.
Is digital scanning covered by insurance?
The scan itself is typically included as part of the overall treatment cost (Invisalign, crown, etc.) rather than billed separately.
